The Illini Space Development Society is one of over a hundred chapters of the National Space Society, which is based in Washington, DC. ISDS does not charge local membership dues - our main activities are free and open to the public. We do encourage all who wish to see an active future of space exploration and development to join NSS and support our efforts.
National Space Society Objectives
- Provide broad, visible public support for a vigorous and comprehensive space program.
- Create opportunities for public involvement in space exploration and development.
- Encourage greater involvement by private enterprise in developing the space frontier.
- Seek the maximum government support for research to advance the technology needed to live in space.
- Reinvigorate the economy by maintaining competitive leadership in space manufacturing.

- Stimulate interest in math and science careers by demonstrating the exciting opportunities available in space.
